About
Continuing Judith B. Sauceda’s vision for Takoja to be a place of refuge for creatives and spirituals to discover and learn more about their personal path, the artist in residency program is rooted in collaboration and cultivating stewards of the land.
Each resident is provided room and board along with full responsibility and access to the land: 40+ acres of expansive sage fields at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, with a century old adobe building and natural water reservoir. The solace of the low tundra and desert landscape offer creatives a mindful escape to explore their individual practice.
Located 30 minutes North of Taos, and 2 hrs. North of Santa Fe, Takoja provides the opportunity to engage with local creative communities.
Registration is by online application and requires a letter of intent to qualify. Applications are accepted once a year and reviewed by a selection committee. 2 week to 2 month stays are available April through September.
Takoja is for those with an adventurous spirit and willingness to get their hands dirty!
