En Plein Air | May 26-29

Painting with Landscapes

In the tradition of our great masters, En Plein Air painting is a process that utilizes the natural world as your personal studio. Takoja steward Mario Sauceda has been painting since childhood, and will lead you through a series of instructional sessions where you can capture the beautiful vistas of the San Luis Valley; a landscape that is primordial, alpine, and inspiring. Body centered exercises will also be included based on chi-kung and tai-chi, teaching the student to see and use their whole body and movement as the brush.

Following the call of the sun, 2-3hr instructional sessions will occur in morning and evening, as well as 2 hrs of your own outdoor studio time to explore skills and techniques. Limited materials provided, it's strongly advised that you bring your own Plein Air paint box including: oil paints, a series of brushes as well your own canvases (24” x 30” suggested).
