Natural Dyeing with Sage and Indigo
Natural Dyeing with Sage | Learn natural dyeing basics that can be used with almost any plant. We will be using foraged sage from Tajoka to create yellow dye which will be incorporated into the re-build of the sweat lodge. You will also learn basic shibori techniques to create resists and designs in your fabric.
Indigo and Shibori | In this workshop, you will learn the timeless art of indigo dyeing. Indigo is extracted from indigo plants, resulting in a natural blue dye. You will learn also learn various shibori techniques to create resists and patterns in your fabrics.
Molly Koehn is an environmental artist based in Arizona. Melding a practice of drawing, weaving, and sculptural installation, Koehn’s work examines natural systems, particularly the prevalence of “domination” in our dealings with the world around us. Koehn has an MFA from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, with an emphasis in fiver arts and a BFA in drawing from Fort Hays State University, Hays, KS.
